S.W.E.E.T Retreat

I would like to introduce our next guest blogger. Her name is Carly Jordan and she was my very FIRST recruit!!!! She recently caught the vision and has been on fire with her business ever since!! I am proud to call her my first team member and my friend. I think she did a great job on this blog...let's see what she has to say about our recent SWEET retreat in Hershey, PA.

Maureen Ledda, our Senior National Sales Director, is an amazing woman to be around. Her presence is unparalleled and I can only imagine that she comes a close second to making you feel the way Mary Kay Ash herself would have made you feel. You have to meet her yourself to remotely understand the amazing aura she gives off. However, the inspiration that S.W.E.E.T. Retreat brought to all the women there was unparalleled as well and I'd like to share one of the main themes of the weekend with you.

The theme this year was music. However, it wasn't necessarily the music itself that was inspiring but the ability to find your own music and to make music with others. Are you singing your own song? More importantly, are you listening for anyone elses' song?

Here's the metaphor. We all sing our own song. Some of us sing as rockers, some of us are operatic and others still may even be a lil bit country. However, when we work and live together, no matter our style we all have the ability to make beautiful music together. I'm not sure what the parallel musical style would be for my song, but I do know that I'm still learning my song. I'm finding new notes each day and fine tuning them as I go along. I'm slowly but surely learning what makes me happy, who makes me feel good and what types of "notes" I should stay away from that have left a sour note in my life.

Are you an introvert, an extrovert, a talker, a listener, a believer, a leader, a follower or a dreamer? What works best for you in life? How about in this business? No matter what your song sounds like, are you learning the tune and the words to YOU?

Now ask yourself, are you making beautiful music with others or are you just making noise?

The message here is two-fold. It is important, if not imperative, that you find your song and learn to sing it out loud. Be yourself. Think about whether you have chosen to live your life on a path that was chosen for you or one that you have built yourself. Either way, you need to be confident that you are on the correct path and moving in the direction that you are happy with.

Next, It becomes important for you to listen to others songs. Are you tuning your song to mesh with others or is your music so loud that no one else can sing their song? Learn to honor others styles in order to make beautiful music with them. Do not change your song. Tune yourself up or down to meet one another somewhere you can both make beautiful music together.

I'm taking this theme to heart. I want to make beautiful music with everyone around me. Even those who may strike a sour note with me, I'm betting I could tune myself to match some sort of harmony with them. I have faith and belief that there is music to be made with everyone around us and it is our job, our mission, to pave the way.

SING YOUR SONG AND LET'S MAKE MUSIC TOGETHER!

We're on our way to the top together and will be a Cadillac Unit very, very soon.

One of my favorite songs that has helped me find my own music is "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby" by the Counting Crows. It may not be the song for you, but I will leave you with a quote from the song...

"If you've never stared off into the distance then your life is a shame." What do you see in the distance? Is the song that you're singing now the one that will get you there?

  1. Great post!! So sorry I missed SWEET Retreat, but after reading this post, I feel as if I was there. The group from PA has been such an inspiration to me!! You girls ROCK!!

I recently discovered my song...and each time I hear it, I sing it aloud and know it was meant for me. But remembering to listen to others is so very important...Listening...that is often the key.

Thank you Carly for an amazing post. I look forward to meeting you. And keep rocking it Michaela!!
